Call for Speakers April 2012 TEDxChange hosted by TEDxKids@BC

TEDxKids@BC is honoured to be one of fifty TEDx organizations to be hosting TEDxChange April 5th 2012 in Vancouver. TEDxChange is an initiative spearheaded by the Gates Foundation to create awareness, find where change is needed, and facilitate the change that needs to happen.
The live event will take place in Berlin and we will be streaming it for our audience in Vancouver during our half-day event.

TEDxChange is a partnership between TEDx and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation that is devoted to ideas worth spreading in the areas of global health and development. The TEDxChange team works with TEDx organizers around the world to help facilitate meaningful discussions within their communities on topics such as vaccines, polio, malaria, HIV/AIDS, maternal and newborn child health, and agricultural development. The TEDxChange initiative also includes a series of global signature events curated by Melinda Gates and broadcast across the TEDx community.

To build upon the Berlin event feed we are on the lookout for a small number of presenters –between 5 and 7 – and because of the small number the bar will be high.

What does a high bar mean?

You don’t have to be a polished and perfect public speaker because we have you covered there – we have coaches to help you. We are looking for super cool and passionate presenters who have ideas and/or projects that will be new to our audience members.
And of course, the core of your presentation must be around change. It could be change in your community, your environment, or technology – the skies the limit only harnessed by your imagination.

To give you some insight into what we are not looking for:

  • No self, book, or product promotion.
  • Don’t make the talk about you – this is about raising awareness and creating change for your community.
  • Too slick or uber-polished presentations – we’re looking for authenticity – someone who can make us think, connect with the audience, and perhaps tug at our heartstrings.

Are you the speaker we are looking for? Then let us know — apply for the event.

NOTE: If you are interested to speak at our second event in October check the Call for Speakers page for that event.

TEDxChange is a community dedicated to ideas worth spreading for a better world.“
