The Reel 2 Real: A Celebration of Moving Images for Youth Society is a non-profit registered charity dedicated to showing the best in culturally diverse, authentic programming for youth. Reel to Real presents an annual film festival, the Reel 2 Real International Film Festival for Youth, and media arts programming year-round.

Through public screenings, hands-on workshops, interactive panel discussions, and public forums, the Reel 2 Real Festival aims to involve youth in actively viewing and discussing professionally made films; expose youth to new ideas and cultural perspectives; offer high-quality cinematic entertainment outside the mainstream; explore issues that are important to youth; engage youth in discussions with filmmakers about their work; increase understanding of the art and craft of filmmaking; and promote the production and presentation of high quality independent films for youth.

Talent Lab – Grades 8 -12
You can attend a feature film or short film program, and now you have the option of staying for the whole day and taking a workshop.
From mobile phones and computers to television and movies, screen culture dominates modern culture. Reel 2 Real’s Talent Lab aims to ensure that students are inspired and equipped to analyze, appreciate, explore, create and share screen media. Through film viewing, master classes and production classes, students get to work with, and learn from, some of Vancouver’s top film industry professionals.

Talent Lab Grades 2 – 7
You may attend a feature film – and now you also have the option of staying for the whole day and taking a workshop (listed on the back). As always, films are accompanied by a film study guide that is distributed before the festival, and a discussion follows the screening.
