It Starts With Me: Youth Dialogues Event, FREE, July 14

 “It Starts With Me”, a day-long youth dialogues event, will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012. The event focuses on discrimination in everyday life, hate crimes, and active witnessing. The event hopes to address these issues through interactive workshops, guest speakers, a flash mob, and a dialogue component to allow participants to discuss and reflect on what they have learned as well as share personal experiences. Youth will get a choice of attending 2 out of 4 workshops in the morning before lunch. After learning a flash mob dance and having lunch, they will discuss what they learned through a series of dialogues with other youth. The event will wrap up with a flash mob outside.

Who: Any youth from around the Lower Mainland are invited

What: A day of interactive learning, meeting new people, participating in a flash mob, and deciding together to take action in situations of discrimination.

Why: Win door prizes, learn a flash mob dance, meet other youth with similar interests, and earn service hours

Extras: Snacks and a lunch will be provided. Bus fare to and from the event are also provided if needed.

Event starts promptly at 10am and doors are open for registration and refreshments at 9am
