COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT FILMS

Three teams. Three projects. Five weeks. Eight minutes each.

DIRT RICH

Food has become an active part of people’s lives. More people who share the same values and concerns for the health of the earth want to know what’s in our food, where it’s coming from, how it has been produced and how it’s impacting future generations. Many people bring these issues to an active level; they are fostering positive changes by being involved in urban agriculture, spreading the knowledge of permaculture and starting community gardens.

A BAR AND A BROTHEL

Prostitution has been a major piece of Vancouver’s history since the city’s birth. From the forty-one brothels and 153 sex trade workers in 1906 to the over two thousand workers in modern times, prostitution has grown with the city, even while legislation has pushed it from the public eye.

A BAR AND A BROTHEL

With the new separated bike lanes in place on Dunsmuir Viaduct, Dunsmuir Street, Burrard Bridge and Hornby, getting downtown to work, shop or visit continued to become easier and more enjoyable. Many of these city residence and commuters are asking if these bike lanes are adding to the solution, or are simply taking up more unused space in an already congested city.

PARTICIPANT RECOGNITION

After the screenings our participants will host a short segment to recognize their accomplishments and entertain questions from the audience.

Yes, there will be finger foods.

Please RSVP via email to kaleidoscope@mccbc.com
